Controversy over Psycho Owners Balls

Psycho Donuts Owners Face New Controversy Over Their Balls

A new line of donuts announced by Psycho Donuts has outraged some in this quiet bedroom community in Campbell, California. Psycho Donuts owners shrugged off the latest controversy surrounding their 2 year old business.

CAMPBELL, CA March 29, 2011 --- Psycho Donuts is stirring up controversy again. The cult donut chain announced a new line of themed donut holes, dubbed Psycho Ballz. The company will release four varieties on April 1 - including Piggy Ballz, Zombie Ballz, Wookie Ballz, and Chocolate Salty Ballz.

Many in this Northern California community were outraged by the company’s apparent lack of morality and judgment surrounding their new line of donut holes. Several members of the community, along with industry groups such as Pig Farmers of America, Equal Rights for Zombies, and The Boston Teabaggers are protesting the controversial line-up of fried dough. The opposition has banded together to form The Alliance Against Testicular Humor (AATH), in direct response to the company’s product announcement. The AATH has publicly demanded that Psycho Donuts founders retract their ballz immediately.

Psycho Donuts is no stranger to controversy. In 2009, Psycho Donuts angered mental heath groups when the business first launched as an asylum-themed donut shop. More recently, the company shocked the public with the introduction of Blue Balls – blue sugar-coated donut holes filled with custard – which were made available to single men on Valentine’s Day.

Web Granger, Psycho Donuts’ Professor of Hysterical Donuts, said, “Each Psycho Ballz variety builds on its name, and each variety comes in a similar round shape. Piggy Ballz are cake donut holes, dipped in maple glaze, and rolled in crispy bacon bits. Chocolate Salty Ballz are glazed dark chocolate cake donuts, drizzled with rich and buttery salted caramel.” Psycho Donuts owners describe Psycho Ballz as literally-named culinary innovations, but not everyone agrees.

Joe Bob Dangles, a pig farmer in nearby Modesto, expressed outrage regarding Psycho Donuts’ Piggy Ballz: “Pigs may be dirty, but they are innocent creatures; and while people eat almost every part of a pig’s body, their genitals should be held sacred from donut ridicule.” Susan Doright, from the California Association of Moral Values, said, “What kind of people would create such a thing? Companies like Psycho Donuts are damaging the fabric of America’s value system. The owners of Psycho Donuts lack a moral screw in their DNA.”

When questioned about the new line of donuts, Chief Psycho Jordan Zweigoron commented, “We are proud of our ballz, and we stand behind them. It’s not every day that a man has the opportunity to create a legacy around his ballz; and we intend to make our ballz the folklore of generations to come.”

Psycho Ballz will be available at Psycho Donuts Campbell and Psycho Donuts San Jose, beginning on Friday, April 1, 2011.

Anniversary and Oscars Event

Here come the Psycho Terrible Twos! That's right crazy friends, it's been almost two years since the dark days of Economic Doom and Psycho Controversy. And in these short two years - through a complex process of psycho mitosis - there are now evil twin Psycho locations in both Campbell and San Jose.

Our second anniversary coincides with The Oscars weekend. There are no coincidences... Join us at Psycho Campbell on Saturday February 26 for The Psycho Two Year Anniversary and Oscars Party, hosted by The Nororious Miss Julie! What makes this event so pspecial?

For starters --
you are the VIP at this party. Dress for your walk of fame. You'll walk the leopard-skin carpet up the Psycho Psidewalk (OK, it's not quite The Kodak Theater, but still...). Interview and photo opps will abound, and you'll be pstalked by our own faux psychorazi. The best-dressed (and worst-dressed!) will get prizes, to be announced. Watch for some authentic local VIPs to walk the Psycho Psidewalk. All starting at 10am at Psycho Donuts Campbell! Get the Oscar fame you deserve - the Psycho Way - on Saturday February 26!

It's become a tradition on our anniversary to invite Ghosts of Donuts Past to return for Donut Homecoming. What ever became of wayward donuts like Manic Malt, Lightning Lemon, Butternut, Headbanger's Evil Twin - and so many more? Wanna help welcome these lost donuts home? Join us on Saturday February 26 at Psycho Campbell for our 2 Year Anniversary and Oscars Party!

And speaking of Psycho Events, were you there for Lovesick this weekend? If you missed it, your loss. It was crazy good fun. Our friend Bruce Rogers of Korkaraoke brought the karaoke fun, and Psycho Karaoke rocked the padded cell all morning long!

We had an amazing original art show of anti-love themed pieces, from artists like Christine Benjamin, Deborah Barba, Carlos Villez, John Hageman, Sheri DeBow, Kurtis Rykovich, Lacey Bryant, Laura Collin Bennett, Michael Foley, Michelle Waters, Nicolas Caesar, and Christian Cinder.

Who doesn't love crazy art and Psycho Karaoke? But let's not forget the name of the pstore... we had some pseriously crazy donuts too. Psycho Chef Ron is on pfire (hmm, can we do a silent "p" before an "f" too?). We launched the Strawberry Margarita Donut this weekend. Donut miss this one. It's filled with tequilla creme, and topped with strawberry icing, freeze dried strawberries, a swirl of vanilla icing, and coarse margarita salt. This one's a game changer. And you can still get one through Valentine's Day!

This weekend also saw the return of Blue Balls! You've been frustrated and waiting impatiently since last Valentine's Day - but they've returned in their full and bursting, psmurfish glory. Blue Balls are custard-filled donut holes, coated in blue sugar. And they're still available through Valentine's Day.

Have you had a French Kiss? You might rethink your answer, cause you haven't experienced a French Kiss until you've had a Psycho French Kiss. The French kiss has a chocolate-drizzled cherry-topped sheen, and is filled with a homemade chocolate creme filling. Yep, you can still get one through Valentine's Day.

And finally, Valentine's Day at Psycho Donuts would not be complete without our Valentine staple (as in... surgical staple), Shot Thru the Heart. This jelly filled donut has a serious heartache, caused by the pocky stick piercing it's fragile heart.

Get your Psycho Valentine Donuts - inspired by a truly demented Psycho kitchen staff - through Valentine's Day, only at Psycho Donuts!

Bubblewrap, Kazoos, Rocky Horror, and Lovesick

You probably think that we sit around dreaming up holidays like Bubblewrap Appreciation Day. Although we did not invent this killer holiday, we are crazy enough to celebrate it. We've asked our nurses to get creative with bubblewrap... Come to Psycho Donuts Campbell or San Jose on Monday January 24, and check out our bubblewrap culture in all its psycho glory!

And speaking of unusual and crazy holidays... this Friday is National Kazoo Day! Don't shoot the messenger; we really don't create these holidays (although they are neatly spelled out by date in the 2011 Psycho Nurse Calendar). We're only guilty of capitalizing on them - as a means of luring you into our den of donut dysfunction. Come to Psycho Donuts Campbell this Friday, starting
at 3pm. You'll meet Capt'n Kazoo and the infamous Kazoomobile. Get a free kazoo while supplies last! National Kazoo Day - only at Psycho Donuts Campbell. Friday, January 28, starting after school,at 3pm.

Are the above antics a little too off-beat for you? Looking for somethin
g more "mainstream?" Maybe you're more of the Rocky Horror type? If so, you're in luck, because the Barely Legal cast will perform The Rocky Horror Picture at Camera 3 and Psycho San Jose this Saturday night, January 29. Pre-show starts at 11:30pm. Last call for alcohol is 11pm, so show up early for one of our Rocky-inspired donuts and a beer before the show! Get your tickets in advance - this is almost always a sell-out show.

And get ready, because you're gonna be Lovesick! Our
kickoff event for the Valentine's Day season is coming up on Saturday, February 5! Lovesick is the place to pick up a piece of original artwork inspired by the effects of love (which are not always positive). If you're truly feeling lovesick, come to Lovesick for some good 'ole Psycho Karaoke in the Padded Cell, with our good friend Bruce Rogers of Korkaraoke. And of course, your favorite Psycho Valentine's Day donuts will be on hand - who remembers Shot Thru the Heart, and Blueballs?? Donut miss the fun! Saturday February 5, starting at 10am - only at Psycho Donuts Campbell.

Monday, January 3, 2011

Crazy Ramblings of Elvis, Bubblewrap, Kazoos, and Lovesick

Has anyone seen Elvis? Maybe he'll show up at Psycho Donuts for his 76th birthday - this Saturday, January 8! Elvis would approve of The Dead Elvis, since it has all his favorite toppings - bananas, bacon, peanut butter and jelly. Show up at Psycho Campbell or Psycho San Jose on Elvis' birthday dressed as The King, and your Dead Elvis is free!

Bubblewrap Appreciation Day is Monday, January 24 (pick up a 2011 Psycho Nurse Calendar, and learn about all kinds of crazy holidays)! For those of you who have been to Psycho Donuts, you know why we're excited about Bubblewrap Appreciation Day. Here's a little contest -- take a picture of something unusual and large covered in bubblewrap. Make it clever and definitively psycho, and email it to psychodonutsweb@yahoo.com or upload the photo to our Facebook page. The winner and two friends will be invited to a private bubblewrap stomp at Psycho Campbell (full disclosure - the private stomp happens at 6am, yawn); think bubblewrap carpeting. You'll leave with a bubblewrap buzz, a dozen donuts, and a Psycho t-shirt! We can't wait to see what you cover in bubblewrap!

Another important holiday (which is well recognized in the Psycho Calendar) is National Kazoo Day, on Thursday, January 27. Starting at
3pm on Kazoo Day, come to Psycho Donuts Campbell or San Jose, and get yourself a free kazoo with your donut order. We recommend placing the kazoo through the donut hole and playing a song.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner - and while every other retail store is waxing philosophical about love, it's just not our pstyle... We're continuing our tradition of Anti-Love, and pleased to announce our annual event and Psycho art show:

Lovesick - a Psycho Anti-Valentine Event
Saturday, February 5; 10am - 3pm
Psycho Donuts Campbell

It's our Annual Original Art Show and "Anti-Love" event at Psycho Donuts! Kick off your Valentine's Day season on the wrong foot - featuring donutrocities such as 'Shot Through the Heart' and 'Blueballs.'

Back by popular demand - it's Psycho Karaoke in the Padded Cell - courtesy of Korkaraoke! Bring your crazy singing voice to the Lovesick event, and join the musical antics, beginning at 10 am.

Center-stage at Lovesick is our annual 'anti-love-themed' art show. Buy an original piece of 'Lovesick art' for as little as $40! Meet Psycho artists in person - like Christine Benjamin, Deborah Barba, Carlos Villez, John Hageman, Sheri DeBow, Kurtis Rykovich, Lacey Bryant, Laura Collin Bennett, Michael Foley, Michelle Waters, Nicolas Caesar, and Christian Cinder.
