Frosticles and Pucker Ballz

We did some Psycho Pondering and asked ourselves, "Selves, what if Psycho fans could DRINK our donuts?" Hmm, donuts in liquid form?

What do you get when you combine the crazy flavors of Psycho Donuts with ice, a chunk of cake donut (yes, a real donut...), and a blender? You get...

FROSTICLES!

While you're reading this weird blog, preliminary Frosticle models are already rolling off the Psycho Assembly Line at Psycho Campbell (coming soon to Psycho San Jose too)!

Initial Frosticle varieties are Kooky Monster, Manic Malt, and Strawberry Fields. We will be launching additional Frosticle flavors soon! Let us know which Psycho Donut varieties you'd like to experience in liquid form! Frosticles... fun to say, weirdly yummy to drink!

Psycho Donuts - Your Trickery Partner!

April Fools Day is just around the corner. Here's a trick you can play on your friends and co-workers. Purchase any dozen donuts and tell the nurse, "Trick or Treat" (rolls off the tongue nicely, even on April Fools Day). We have programmed our Nurse Robots with speech recognition software. When they detect the sound of the "Trick or Treat" code word, the Nursebot will be compelled to throw in a free basket of...

PUCKER BALLZ?

Pucker Ballz don't look tricky, but good tricks are deceptive; and Pucker Ballz are deceptively sour. No, strike that. Pucker Ballz are offensively sour! Place the basket of Pucker Ballz on the conference room table and watch the reaction of your friends and co-workers as they unwittingly fall victim to your sour April Fools Day humor. Donut feel guilty; it serves 'em right for not following Psycho Donuts' blog or Facebook posts...

Upload a video of someone caught in the act of 'Pucker Ballz surprise.' Whoever uploads the funniest video will receive a Psycho T-shirt!

Happy April Fools Day. Make Psycho Donuts an unusual part of your tricky day!

Bunnytrocities and Best Donut Shop of 2012

And now this: A pspecial thanks to our friends and fans who have conspired to help Psycho Donuts win Best Donut Shop (for the third year in a row), in The Metro's 2012 Best of Edition.

Easter is incomplete without a visit to Psycho Donuts. Skip the fancy Sunday brunch and check out what Psycho is Pserving! Pstarting about a week before Easter, get ready for our full line-up of bunnytrocities... Available now at both Psycho Donuts locations, through Easter Psunday.

PEEP SHOW!
We all know it's important to protect your nest egg. If you haven't learned how, maybe our responsible Peeps can give you a lesson with Peep Show. Here you will find our pedantic peeps perched tirelessly atop their Cadbury Easter Eggs, in their warm donuty nest - fashioned from raised donuts with maple icing and coconut. Before eating the eggs below, make sure to eat the Peep on top first - these peeps have been know to protect their nest eggs at any cost!

RABBIT ROADKILL!

You were expecting cute bunnies at Psycho Donuts? Like his 2nd cousin, Headbanger, Rabbit Roadkill has seen better days. Jelly filling is oozing from his skid-marked ear. His swollen Donut-Hole eye gives him a pretty sad outlook... and though you may feel a pang of regret, you will eat him.
As if there weren't already tons of cute chicks at Psycho Donuts... get ready, as Psycho Donuts brings back the definitive Hot Chick. No, we're not talking about inflatables. We're referring to The Hot Chick Donut! Like many hot chicks, this one has a spicy bunny tattoo on its mid-section, and is filled with custard.

MASSIVE PEEP TRAUMA!
A killer Easter donut is on the loose, and only Psycho Donuts has the courage to introduce such an infant monster to the world. Please extend a crazy welcome back to Massive Peep Trauma.

Massive PeepTrauma is a particularly peculiar premature peepling, precariously perched (say that 10 times) atop a precipitous portion of jelly filling, which sits atop a raised donut. We categorically decline the alternative name of this donut, Peepbortion... a name which has been gathering psteam in the Psycho underworld...

Have a Crazy Easter!

Psycho Patron Psaints and Ninja Turtles

The Patron Psaint of Ireland would be hanging out in the Psycho Padded cell, if he could. In one hand, he'd be holding a Cadillac Margarita Donut - part of our series of cocktail donuts, the Cadillac Margarita is filled with real tequila cream, and topped with green icing, a candy lime, and margarita salt.

In his other hand, he might be hanging onto our St. Patrick's Day inspired, Lucky and Confused. The partying cousin of Glazed and Confused, Lucky conforms to the Psycho Pshamrock Pstandard, and is topped with a lucky green streak of green drizzle.

And if that doesn't complete your St. Patrick's Day desires, make sure to try our annual Lucky CharmOnut. Sure, it has Lucky Charms on top - but the cereal has been psuper-charged with a healthy dose of EXTRA Lucky Charms marshmallows. This one available on St. Patty's Day only!

This Thursday and Saturday night only - catch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Psycho San Jose and Camera 3 Cult Movie Series. Psycho will be serving Donut Pizza by the slice - because everyone knows what Ninja turtles like best!

And finally in other Psycho News - if you donut get enough of Psycho Donuts on Facebook or Twitter, you can now follow us on Pinterest as well!

Psycho Toddler Years and Donut Homecoming

Happy Birthday! Psycho Donuts turns three on February 28! This crazy toddler has created some pserious psycho turmoil during it's formative years! Psycho Donuts has received insane press attention in its short life, including:
  • The Today Show
  • The Travel Channel
  • Fox News
  • Fox Business News
  • Entrepreneur Magazine
  • Maxim Magazine (Top 10 Donuts in the US)
  • Eye on the Bay
  • Food Network Magazine
  • Bon Appetit Magazine
  • USA Today
  • Virtually every local news channel
  • 105.3 - Live 105
  • 97.3 - Alice Radio
  • AM 810 - KGO Radio
  • Coverage as far and wide as Ethiopia, Japan, Singapore 'n more!
That's a lot of crazy attention for an ornery 3-year-old! Imagine what the future holds once this pspoiled child hits puberty! Nostradamus foretold of a donut-shaped madman who inflicted the world's most unusual fried dough upon the planet - with terrifying effects on humanity (actually we made that up, but it sounds good, huh?). Was Nostradamus referring to our very own Donut Guy?

Many Psycho fans will recall the Psycho controversy days, when mental health protestors managed to turn Psycho Donuts into a nationally known brand, vaulting Psycho Donuts into the Top 10 Google search terms in 2009!

The donut discontent was centered primarily around a handful of donut names. Who remember a harmless cake donut - topped with 1/2 nuts and 1/2 coconut - originally known as The Bipolar? Psycho Donuts ultimately moved to a "manifestations-based" naming paradigm, and the Bipolar became The Mood Swing. And then unthinkably, it was discontinued. But donut fear, for The Mood Swing will return with all of it's nutty attitude... because along with every Psycho anniversary, there is always...

The Psycho Donuts Annual Donut Homecoming Event
February 20 - March 15, 2012
...lost donut souls, and their pilgrimage home to the Psycho Psanctuary

New donuts emerge from the Psycho kitchen at an alarming rate, thanks to Chef Ron's insane creativity. But sadly, difficult donut decisions abound for Psycho management. How do you make room for new donutrocities, when the incumbents refuse to make room? It's a tough world out there, and that applies to donuts too. Every donut has its loyal fans, so you can image the donut dystopia whenever we make a donut delisting decision.

For this reason, we bring back donuts from the brink of extinction each year; lost souls vaulted back to the limelight. Think John Travolta in Pulp Fiction; or Mickey Rourke in The Fighter. Maybe they come back to stay; then again, maybe they donut.

Missing in action for the past 18 months - we're insanely pleased to welcome Manic Malt's return to the Psycho Mother Ship. Manic Malt is topped with chocolate icing, crushed malted milk balls, and vanilla drizzle. Many Psycho fans will be thrilled to get re-acquainted with this malty mess!

Who remembers Lightning Lemon? Graham crackers and a lemony center resulted in this pseriously crazy donut. Eventually, Lightning Lemon got into fights with his donut roommates and hit the road. But in spite of it's sour personality, we're thrilled that Lightning is returning to Psycho Donuts for a short visit. Welcome home!

And that's not all! Other long lost donut souls are in transit, making their way back to the Psycho Psanctuary. Make sure to stop in and say hello to your favorite long-lost donut from Psycho past. And watch our Facebook page in March for your chance to vote on which lucky-long-lost donut will - again - find a permanent home in the Psycho display case.

What ever became of Crazy Face? Donut hole-eyes/nose perched on a maple-topped donut? That's a tough lot in life. Crazy Face went out to find itself, and we're happy to report that it's coming home... just in time for Donut Homecoming! Welcome back, Crazy Face!

If you're gonna call a donut, "The Psycho," then it better be crazy. And The Psycho was about as insane as they come. He's back for a short visit!

The Psycho is topped with marshmallow, pretzels, a cross-hatch of chocolate and key lime drizzle, and a dazzling dose of cayenne pepper. All of the food groups (sweet, sour, salty, and spicy) in a single bite! Come get a Psycho before he's gone!

A Psuper Pspecial Psycho thanks to our Psycho artists for participating in our LOVE / HATE Art show over the past month. Psycho thanks also to Pamela Costa with the San Francisco Examiner for this great article on our Psycho Donuts' Anti-Valentine's Day antics.

Come 'n get your Homecoming Donuts before they are gone!

Who Needs Another Valentines Day Celebration

Vote for Psycho Donuts in the categories of Best Donut Shop, Best Desserts, and Best Bakery in the Metro's Annual Best of Awards. Cast your vote before February 20!

At Psycho Donuts, we can't do anything level-headed; and that holds true on Valentine's Day. We hallucinated that many people are sans lover on this romantic day; and why should they suffer while the lovebirds are out paying twice the normal restaurant price for a romantic dinner?

So this Valentine's season, join us on our Psycho Path; and let's celebrate the underdogs of love.

It all begins with our Anti-Valentine's Day art show:

Love / Hate - An Anti-Valentine Art Pspectacle!
Show Runs January 24 - Feb 27
Artist's Open House - Sun Feb 12 from 10am - 3pm!

Looking for a Célébration De L'amour? Sorry, wrong place! With an uncommon theme of "Love Lost," this is the art show you'd expect from the world's most unusual donut shop!

Spurned by a lover? Feeling the pain of love? If the answer to these questions is yes, then donut miss this CrAzY art show! You'll find original paintings by local artists, some starting as low as $40! Artwork will be available to purchase between January 24 - Feb 27 at Psycho Donuts Campbell.

Check out the latest original work from local artists like Christine Benjamin, Nic Caesar, Murphy Adams, Carlos Villez, Jen Renzel, John Hagaman, Kori Thompson, Anthony Barbaria, Valery Milovic, Michael Foley, Lacey Bryant, and more! Meet many of these artists in person at our Love / Hate Artist's Open house on Sunday, February 12. Maybe you can learn what really inspired the insane painting you're about to purchase.

Whether you're simply lost in love or cast aside by love, our Psycho nurses have just the prescription for you. Love has never felt so bad, or tasted so good. Speaking of which...

What kinds of donuts might the Psychos create for those who are unlucky in love, you might ask? Well, for starters, there is our annual favorite...

Blue Ballz!

Say it a few times; get comfortable with the idea; because you know you want 'em! After all, they're just innocent, custard-filled, blue Psycho Ballz.

Blue Ballz hasn't scared you away yet? Then let's move on! Anti-Valentine's Day wouldn't be complete without:

Shot Thru the Heart!

If you donut get to Psycho Donuts to try one, you're to blame! This heart-shaped donut is pierced through the heart with an evil chocolate pocky stick. The heart is oozing with raspberry jelly, and blood-red drizzle leaks ominously from the pocky-inflicted wound. Think of it as the Headbanger for the loveless.

Everyone remembers those sweethearts candies. You remember... the heart-shaped candies with the cute and lovable slogans. Chef Ron decided to donutize sweetheart candies; only with slight twist (as if making a donut version of Sweethearts wasn't already pretty twisted).

Not-So-Sweethearts!

Give it to someone you really don't like on Valentine's Day (or someone you love with a sense of humor?). Not-So-Sweethearts come with memorable slogans like "I H8 U," "DOOSH," and other poetic anomalies, helping you to express your real feelings this Valentine's Day!

And there ya have it. Valentine's Day is not just for lovers anymore. Check out the Love / Hate art show through February 27 at Psycho Campbell, along with our Love / Hate Artist's Open House on Sunday Feb 12. And donut miss our insane line-up of loveless donutrocities at Psycho Campbell and Psycho San Jose!

Farewell Furry Flurry

Farewell to the fanatical flurry of furry fandom (say that 10 times!). Psycho Donuts San Jose was a lightning rod for our new furry friends who came to this year's Further Confusion Conference! Wolves, tigers, tails, and crazy creatures with wing spans of 10 feet long all walked the Psycho plank and enjoyed some tasty Psycho morsels.

What drove the furries into Psycho Donuts was Animal Parts! Furries exercised cannibalistic tendencies, with a voracious appetite for Tails and even Ballz. Tigers and zebras were running scared, as the Psycho kitchen scrambled to harvest an ample supply of ballz to satisfy furry demand.

And that wasn't all! Psycho Donuts was invited to judge the Furry Talent Show on the last night of the conference.

Nurses Micaela and Siobhan exercised their judicial skills masterfully, making critical furry talent decisions. Psycho was honored to be among the esteemed panel of judges for the event.

Psycho looks forward to another crazy furry conference next year!

And speaking of strange events and themed balls, anyone catch the Michael Jackson Immortal show at The HP Pavilion this past weekend? Psycho Donuts was prepared with extra helping of MJ Ballz for all concert goers. What better way to supplement your Michael Jackson tribute concert!

A Psuper Psycho thanks to Eye on the Bay, for including Psycho Donuts in their Day Trip San Jose episode on Thursday night, January 12. The Psycho psecret is no more!

Donutize This! Furries, Elvis, and The King of Pop

It's a Crazy New Year at Psycho Donuts, and we are gearing up for another year of insane donutrocities. The Psycho Facebook Fan page crossed the 10,000 Likes, just as the New Years ball dropped in New York. Facebook fan Joe Casteneda claims he was Psycho Fan 10,000, but other Psycho fans expressed outrage, accusing Joe of a "Floridian George Bush-like move." The public may never know the truth.

CBS Channel 5's Eye on the Bay has been practically living at
Psycho Donuts. Producer Chris Bolini recently put together this inventive segment about Psycho Donuts. And toon in to KCBS Channel 5, Thursday January 12 at 7pm; when a completely different segment about Psycho Donuts will make it's Eye on the Bay TV debut.

Here come The Furries! The annual Furry convention, Furrther Confusion, returns to Downtown San Jose, starting on Thursday January 12. Furries and Psychos are a match made in purgatory; and for this reason, we have created some Psycho Pspecialties in honor of our Pfurry Pfriends.

Starting on Wednesday, January 11, stop at Psycho Donuts and check out our Zebra Parts. We'll be serving up both Zebra Tails and Zebra Ballz. Zebras not your thing? Then try our Tiger Parts, in your choice of Tiger Tails or Tiger Ballz. Topped with orange icing and chocolate stripes, Tiger Tails (and Ballz!) will bring out the feline in furries and non-furries alike. Psycho Donuts is also thrilled to be judging the notorious Furry Talent Show, for a second year in a row.

And speaking of felines, did you make it to Psycho San Jose for our CATS Nurse Transformation event? Make-up guru Jimmy Goode and cast members of the musical CATS were on hand, quickly transforming our own Siobhan into a CAT Nurse. Rumor has it that Siobhan will now be starring in a remake of the movie Catwoman. Psycho thanks to KGO Radio reporter Rob Artigo for covering the event, and to our friends at Broadway San Jose for the crazy concept.

Hopefully you had the chance to taste our Kitty Litter donut while CATS was in town. If you were too scared this time around, it's likely that the Kitty will "rear" it's ugly head again in 2012.

In crazy celebrity news, Elvis will celebrate another birthday this Sunday, January 8. Are you the real Elvis? If so, come to Psycho Donuts in full costume and swagger, and get a free donut of your choice on Elvis' birthday. For everyone else, we'll be serving up our infamous Dead Elvis Donut on Sunday, while supplies last

And not to be outdone by The King of Rock n Roll, The King of Pop is another celebrity who seems to have escaped death. Case in point, catch the Michael Jackson Immortal show at The HP Pavilion on January 13 - 14. In honor of the show, the Psycho kitchen will be ramping up production of our Michael Jackson donuts and MJ Ballz. Stop at Psycho Donuts on January 13 or 14 dressed as The King of Pop, and get The Michael Jackson or MJ Ballz for half price, while supplies last.
